We live and breathe timber flooring and it shows throughout the process from concept through to completion. Building or renovating can be stressful and we aim to make the flooring process as smooth as possible. We pride ourselves on our unbiased and honest recommendations, our high attention to detail, our customer service and communication skills and our ability to deliver an outstanding product with a few laughs and a bit of banter along the way!
Our Services
Revive your existing floors by sanding them back to their former glory and then coating them. We offer a range of finishes including water based polyurethane, zero VOC natural oils and hard wax oil finishes. We can achieve unique looks with coloured oils, stains and tinted finishes. Custom colours are mixed in house and all personalised samples are complimentary.
Renovating or building a new house? We specialise in installing all styles of new timber floors in a range of timber types including solid and engineered flooring. New timber floors can transform the look of a renovation and add value to your dream home or building. We take care of the substrate preparation too - this is a sometimes overlooked but crucial step.
Abstract Floors supply engineered timber flooring and solid flooring. The natural grains and textures provide endless design possibilities for your residential or commercial projects. Through our network of suppliers we can source a wide range of timber flooring including New Zealand Natives, Australian Hardwoods, American and European oak to name a few.
Your brand new timber floor looks the best on the day you move in - and from there it slowly deteriorates. With a regular deep clean, the correct cleaning products used, and with a 4-5 year re-coating schedule, the life of your beautiful new wooden floor will be extended. We’re heavy promoters of preventative maintenance!

“WOW is what I have to say about Abstract floors. Such a fabulous finish to my old timber floors. I now walk around homeloving my floors, they seem to just get more awesome the more I look at them. It has given my renovated art deco home a modern twist with the natural look floor rather than that old dark stain. Love It!.”

FAQ’s

You've come to the right place!
First we will take a look at the plans and discuss with you, and/or your interior designer, the colour palette and design style that you're looking to achieve. We discuss colour, durability expectations, lifestyle, care and maintenance and everything in between.
We then present you with a range of options at different price points and find the perfect flooring to suit you and your situation.
Next we work with your builder to fit into the building schedule. We will send a deposit invoice to secure the materials and book in your job.
We complete the work on site and discuss with you any cleaning and maintenance requirements.
Finally, we will send you a reminder email to organise an annual deep clean, with a re-coating system every 4-5 years ideally, resulting in a longer time between re-sands at a much lower cost to you.

Minimal. There’s always some dust, it’s just the nature of the work, though we have invested heavily in vacuum units and have well maintained machinery to avoid airborne dust as much as possible - we also vacuum fastidiously prior to coating.

This completely depends on the scope of the job. For straightforward installations and general sanding jobs, 100m2 and under takes approximately 5 days to complete, and increases from there. We can discuss this at the time of a site visit and will work with any other trades involved to stick to a timeline that works for everyone.

For floor sanding - Yes you will need to vacate your house while the work is being done, unless you can live in part of the house that does not require you to walk on the flooring being sanded.
For installations - you can stay in the house and live as usual, though we recommend for ease of workflow, to stay else where if possible.

No we do not fill long run gaps. Your timber flooring needs space to grow and shrink through the seasons and filling often results in bulging or unsightly cracking.
